Dauntless explorer and former paratrooper Levison Wood was doing a 4,250-mile trek across Africawhen he stumbled upon a brush fire. He immediately realized that the blaze was about to claim a tiny victim, so he sprung into action.
This poor little vervet monkey was clinging to life under a burning tree when Wood stepped in to save the day.
It's sad to know that this fire, which probably killed numerous animals before Wood came along to help, was set by humans looking to stake their claim on the land. The unfortunate reality is that people destroy thousands of acres of land every day without showing any compassion for the animals they harm and displace in the process.
Thankfully, good people like Levison Wood make it their mission to help in any way they can. Let's hope that little Florence is safe and happy now that she's out of harm's way!
